Injury: Loss of taste and smell
Our senses of taste and smell are closely linked and if you lose one you will often lose the other as well. As well as losing enjoyment, the impact can be serious because you won’t be able to smell a gas leak or food that is going off.
What causes loss of taste and smell?
The most common causes of losing the sense of taste and smell are infections or problems in the mouth. But it can also be caused by a blow to the head damaging the nerves or by being in contact with certain chemicals or toxic fumes.
