Injury: Blindness and Eye Injuries

Blindness and eye injuries can be devastating because most of us take our sight for granted.  If your eye injury was the result of an accident that wasn’t your fault, you may be entitled to compensation.

Causes of eye injury

Most eye injuries are minor, but because the eye is sensitive, any type of injury can lead to loss of vision.  Serious injuries may even lead to removal of the eye.
Eye injuries can include scratches and cuts, being hit in the eye or burns and irritation.  As well as possibly causing problems with your sight, eye injuries can be painful.

The greatest danger of eye injury comes from small, high-speed objects, such as stones thrown up by lawn mowers or windscreen glass in car accidents.  Many eye injuries are preventable if you take the proper safety precautions and you should wear safety glasses if your eyes are at risk in your job.
